Intrigued at a very young age, Alec has always had a curious mind for human movement; from small nuances like how humans walk, to complex scales of cognitive, associative, and autonomous function during high performance tasks. Pairing that curious mind with an able body, Alec excels at creating the synergy between the HOW and WHY of movement mechanics. Alec lives by the saying “do what you love and love what you do.”

Both knowledgeable and sensible on basic biomechanics, functional anatomy, and exercise prescription, Alec is able to distinguish basic needs of everyday movement that meet every day specific tasks. Whether it be rehab, sport performance, or just simply getting you to move, Alec is with you.

Cole has always been passionate about training, nutrition and becoming the best version of himself. Cole comes from an athletic sport background, his specialization in strength and conditioning originates from off-season rugby and football training. Cole takes a specific interest in functional movement and biomechanics. His attention to detail makes him a safe and effective choice for anyone looking to pursue their fitness goals!

Dan’s passion and experience with sports and exercise, as well as his love for science made him pursue his career in the Fitness and Health industry studying Exercise Science at the post secondary level. His emphasis on evidence-based practices, longevity, injury prevention, and education is what made him fall perfectly in line with the principles that SWAT Health preaches.

 

Dan’s success as a Strength & Conditioning Coach/Rehabilitation Assistant comes from his ability to apply his theory-based education with practical experience, which allows him to work with a wide range of clientele from beginner to advanced, athletes, as well as injury rehabilitation patients.

Gurvir, AKA “G”, is an ISSA Certified Strength & Conditioning coach and Sports Nutritionist. During his time in high school, he found his passion for training while playing both football and rugby. His experience of working through injury and chronic pain sparked his interest in pursuing a degree in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo, where he was also a member of the varsity men’s rugby team.

In his time at UW, he has worked with a wide range of people, from Olympic competitors to varsity and recreational athletes, and individuals trying to live a more active lifestyle. He’s continuing his education to widen his scope in topics of biomechanics, nutrition, and training philosophies to better assist his clients. G’s goal is to support his clients in giving them the tools to reach and surpass their goals.

Drew is a lifetime athlete, competing in baseball, hockey, wrestling, mixed martial arts, and natural bodybuilding in men’s physique. His athletic background, combined with an ever-growing fascination with the human body, has established a strong foundation on which Drew continues to build his health and fitness expertise. 

Over his 13 years as a strength and conditioning coach, he has built a reputation for a dynamic style of training which favours functionality and training pain free to perform your best. While Drew coaches everyone from pro athletes to retirees, he derives the greatest sense of accomplishment from clients that believe in training for longevity. Drew and his programs are built with purpose and a commitment to your personal goals while helping you develop a skill set inside and outside of the gym to excel.

MARCELLO RANIERI

Born and raised in the prairies of Manitoba, Marcello Ranieri is a film & TV actor, dancer, and ISSA certified personal trainer with SWAT Health. Marcello has been working professionally as an artist on screen and stage in both Vancouver and Toronto over the last 8 years, but has recently decided to simultaneously expand on his knowledge and passion for fitness and health. Marcello has navigated the competitive nature of the entertainment industry by first and foremost committing his way of life to nurturing the mind, body and spirit. Marcello’s commitment to prioritizing mental health over aesthetic has forever changed his life and is what led him to becoming an athletic trainer. This approach continues to be at the basis of Marcello’s training, as he is a firm believer in the power of a positive self image. Through intense, consistent, and simple yet effective training, Marcello’s goal is to help his clients achieve any and all fitness & health related goals, but above all feel good.

CJ has always been passionate about training, nutrition and overall fitness. Born and raised in Toronto, he played a number of competitive sports including rugby, basketball, volleyball and football. He attended University of Toronto on a Football scholarship, played Football four years and ran on the University’s Track and Field team while there. After graduating with a Bachelors Degree of Kinesiology, he was drafted in the 2014 CFL draft. He played a combined 2 seasons with The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Calgary Stampeders and Montreal Allouettes, he decided to move his career to the training/coaching side. CJ has five years of training experience and uses a unique and integrated approach to personal training that consists of strength, rehabilitation, and biomechanics. He has worked with athletes in U Sports, NBA, CFL, OHL, and NCAA. His passion lies in helping clients of all levels, from beginner to professional athlete, reach their goals through developing strength, technique and mobility.

JORDAN LANGILLE

Growing up in Hamilton, Jordan has always had a passion for sports, health, and fitness, which led him to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. The desire to learn about all aspects of the human body and functional movement has motivated Jordan to continue his education, as he is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Kinesiology that focuses on research of the physiology and muscle activation patterns of children during exercise. Jordan is also certified in Neurokinetic Therapy® Level 1 and has a keen interest in physical therapy and injury rehabilitation and uses his knowledge and experience to help clients alleviate their pain, eliminate movement dysfunction, and improve athletic performance. Jordan always provides a valuable experience for his clients and is extremely dedicated to helping them achieve their health and fitness goals.

Her background as a competitive dancer has taught her the importance of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and maintenance for optimal performance. She has completed an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in Kinesiology and Physical Education, and is a NASM certified personal trainer. Bella enjoys SWAT’s focus on functional movement and longevity as well as the synergistic relationship between clinic and gym.

Darcy has always been passionate about training, nutrition and overall fitness. Born and raised in Mississauga, he played a number of competitive sports including baseball, basketball, volleyball, wrestling and football. He attended Saint Mary’s University on a football scholarship and was drafted 6th overall in the 2009 CFL draft. After playing a combined 5 seasons with The Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Edmonton Eskimos, his career was unfortunately cut short by a career ending shoulder surgery. Darcy has nearly a decade of training experience and uses a unique and integrated approach to personal training that consists of strength and rehabilitation sciences. He has worked with athletes in the NHL, NBA, NFL, CFL, OHL, NCAA and U Sports. His passion lies in helping clients of all levels, from beginner to professional athlete, reach their goals through developing strength, technique and mobility.

Shawn grew up around competing through sport. Whether it was field lacrosse or Junior A hockey, he found his passion and dedication for fitness and health not only through competing but through training to compete. This passion led him to study Fitness & Health promotion at Humber College where we graduated with a College diploma and become a certified personal trainer through ACSM & CanFitPro. Later he discovered CrossFit and has been a Level 2 Coach & competitor ever since, recently finishing in the top 50 in Canada in the world wide Open. Shawn is also the owner and head programmer for our partnered business in Burlington, CrossFit Col.

Shawn uses his background to establish strong foundations and blend his in-depth knowledge of sport performance with athlete development. He has experience training all levels of fitness ranging from kids, students, Professional/Collegiate athletes as well as the general population. Continuing to grow and educate himself drives Shawn to become a better trainer everyday.

Kyle is one of the most sought out fitness coaches in the Greater Toronto Area.  Kyle has been heavily involved in the fitness industry for the past decade, training professional athletes, Hollywood celebrities and Toronto’s most prominent CEOs, in addition to everyday gym goers. He quickly made a name for himself in 2013 when he co-founded the overnight GTA sensation, SWAT Health. Kyle is one of the engineers of SWAT’s all-encompassing health and fitness approach, pushing the envelope in the directions of functional training, movement as medicine and healthy lifestyle balance. Kyle is a body sculptor by trade and a devoted motivator to anyone seeking to improve themselves. His mandate is to inspire the world around him in order to live happier and healthier lives.

Dr. Dave Giannone is a chiropractor by discipline and one of the original founders of SWAT.  His diversified skill-set includes Active Release Technique(ART), Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, Integrated Therapeutics, DNS, and concussion care. His original vision of SWAT stemmed from the belief that healthcare begins when we empower patients to understand balance in their body.  As a chiropractor, Dr. Dave believes in finding the root cause of dysfunction of pain and treating with movement-based solutions. Outside of SWAT, Dave is a family man, hardcore Raptors fan, movie buff, and musician.

Dr. Tony Diab is a Chiropractor and Medical Acupuncture Provider and has been in practice for 4 years. Originally from Nova Scotia, Dr. Tony moved to Toronto in 2019 to be a part of the incredible team at SWAT. Dr. Tony believes education is the key starting point of anyone’s journey to living an active, pain free lifestyle. He aims to create a treatment plan that is collaborative, simple and informed by the evidence. Dr. Tony Diab has a BSc Kinesiology Honours from Dalhousie University and is a Doctor of Chiropractic from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He is also certified in Medical Acupuncture, Functional Range Conditioning FRC©, Integrated Patterning, The Foot Collective and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach (to be completed 2021).

Special Interests include Pain Education, Neck/Low Back Pain, Headaches, Shoulder pain, Plantar fasciitis and Ankle sprains.

KATIE SHERIDAN

BKin (Hons), DC, Med. Acu, ART Dr. Katie Sheridan is a Chiropractor and Pilates Rehab provider with a background in competitive gymnastics and dance. She began her pursuit for a career in health care at Wilfred Laurier University where she studied Kinesiology and was the Student athletic therapist for the Men’s Football team (2006-2010). After graduating with Honours, Dr. Katie completed the four-year Doctor of Chiropractic program at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. She graduated with Clinic Honours and further enhanced her skills and education by attaining certifications in Active Release Techniques (ART) and Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (McMaster University).  Dr. Katie is a certified Sport First Responder, and a Shift Concussion Management Practitioner. When she is not working, Dr. Katie enjoys Pilates and yoga and most recently became a Pilates rehab provider. She can now share her joy of Pilates and Pilates rehabilitation with her Chiropractic patients. Dr. Katie is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Human Anatomy & Physiology Instruction at the Northeast College of Health Sciences. She looks forward to graduating in Summer 2021 so she can share her knowledge with future students and aspiring health care professionals.

Sean Duquette DC, RCCSS(c) is a Chiropractic Sports Specialist at SWAT Health Toronto. He has experience athletes from all backgrounds including the Canadian National Tae Kwon Do, Ultimate Frisbee and Cycling teams. He works with his patients to create long-term solutions to their health issues through working together with his patients and other healthcare providers. This will allow people to achieve their health goals and enjoy a pain free life.

THOMAS LALONDE

Thomas will be graduating from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in June of 2022. He is also a graduate of the Kinesiology program from Brock University and a graduate of the Fitness and Health Promotion program from Humber College. Thomas also has 9 years of experience as a Strength Coach.

Thomas has an extensive background in treating sport injuries, atraumatic injuries and many more. In 2021, he traveled with the Toronto Players Tour as their Head Therapist and also served as the Head Therapist for a team of therapists at the Osprey Valley Open on the PGA TOUR of CANADA

JASON PAJACZKOWSKI

Dr. Pajaczkowski holds Baccalaureate degrees with Summa Cum Laude honors in Life Science from Queen’s University, Human Anatomy from the National University of Health Science, and a Doctorate in Chiropractic from the National University of Health Science. He completed a two-year post-doctorate residency in sports medicine, a three-year post-doctorate course in orthopedic rehabilitation and a two-year study in acupuncture.

Dr. Pajaczkowski was part of the core medical team for the Toronto Phantoms Arena Football Team, in addition to the Toronto Italia, Oakville Blue Devils, and Hamilton Thunder Canadian Professional Soccer League Clubs; the Vaughan Vipers and North York Rangers Jr. A hockey teams; Canadian Soccer Association Men’s Olympic team and Ontario Provincial Boys and Girls Soccer teams (U12-U19). He was chosen as part of the core medical team for the 25th Anniversary Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii, and served as the medical advisor for Bentley Performance Coaching, McGuire Hockey School and Hardcore Hockey. He has been a consultant with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and was the only chiropractor chosen by the Olympic Committee for the Canada Games in the Yukon. He also has a vast amount of experience at patient care level with football at the amateur, collegiate and professional (NFL, NBA, NHL, CFL, AFL and NFC) level, in addition to numerous Olympic and Paralympic sports, hockey, soccer, volleyball, tennis, marathon, track and field, and triathlon. Registered Physiotherapist, Medical Acupuncture – MPT, Hons. BScKin, FCAMPT. Caroline completed her Master’s of Physical Therapy from the University of Western Ontario in 2012 and has been motivating others to reach their full potential ever since.  Having treated a wide range of orthopaedic conditions, she has come to understand that everyone needs something different in order to succeed and believes that developing client-specific functional goals is the key to effective rehabilitation under SWAT’s roundtable method. Caroline is certified in acupuncture by the McMaster University Medical Acupuncture program and has taken courses in concussion management and vestibular dysfunction. As a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (FCAMPT), she has been able to add advanced techniques and clinical abilities in manual and manipulative therapy to her skillset. Whether she is riding her bike, running, hiking or just exploring somewhere new, Caroline enjoys being outdoors any chance she gets, and understands what impact an injury can have on maintaining an active lifestyle. She places high value on the complexity of any injury from start to finish and looks to predisposing factors and imbalances that make one person more susceptible to injury than the next. Caroline takes pride in educating her patients on the importance of self-management and her treatment style combines manual therapy with a strong focus on breathing technique and functional exercise.

Tony Li received his Master’s of Physical Therapy degree from Western University. Prior to that, he graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. His desire to become a physiotherapist was inspired by his participation in high-level soccer throughout his youth. From experiences with the provincial, national, and university levels, he developed an understanding for the importance of being a role model within the community. He believes that understanding the individuality of each person and the context of their lives is crucial to how we, as physiotherapists, address health, wellness, and rehabilitation. His treatments have an emphasis on therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and education so that he can help you return to the activities that you enjoy, give you the tools to stay healthy, and get your body ready for the future you!

Danya attended the Ontario College of Health & Technology and graduated with honours in November 2018.She is registered with the College of Massage Therapists’ of Ontario, a member of the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario, and a member of the Canadian Sport Massage Therapists’ Association. Her goal is to create a treatment that is specific to each client’s needs. Whether it is to enhance athletic performance or promote active daily living, she integrates all aspects of her patient’s health in order to optimize their care. Along with this, she tries to educate her clients on self-care to increase their recovery time, as well as prevent future injury.Her style of massage combines Myofascial release, stretching and deep tissue techniques. She believes in collaborative care with the patient so that each treatment and patient goal is achieved. Danya has experience working with a wide variety of patients, such as, rehabilitation, athletes, everyday wellness & prenatal care. Her background in competitive sport allows her to understand and treat common injuries found in the athletic community. Danya currently works with players of the Toronto Raptors G League basketball team. She continues her work with athletes participating in other sports such as: Soccer, Volleyball, Hockey, Golf, CrossFit, Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Running, Cycling, and Martial Arts.

Zack Shurtleff graduated from the nationally accredited Humber College Massage Therapy program in 2017 and before that was a Canfit certified personal trainer and fitness instructor specialist.  He has a passion for combining the benefits of exercise and manual therapy to enhance the quality of life of his patients by reducing pain and discomfort and returning people to their pain-free living.  His goals in treatment are to understand one’s physical capacities through thorough hands-on assessment and creating a plan that will apply stress to the body to elicit a positive response and change.  By improving one’s movement through massage and manual therapy, coupled with exercise and strengthening, his patients have found long-term success that has them leaving stronger and feeling better than before.

Being a national-level athlete in multiple sports, he understands the need for effective treatment and the importance of massage therapy to promote a healthy life. Participating in rugby and curling at both the youth, collegiate and adult level has given him the passion for giving back to the sport.  Assisting in coaching the Nelson high school girl’s rugby teams and coaching the Humber College Curling team works perfectly for his desire to teach, coach, and share his passion for sports, movement, and healthy living.

He continues to expand his education in the form of mentors and courses to continually learn the most science-based approaches that provide the best care for everyone who comes to see him.

Kyla has always had a deep interest in movement of the human body, injury prevention and rehabilitation. A background in dance led her to study Kinesiology and Ergonomics, prior to becoming a Registered Massage Therapist.

Kyla has over 8 years of experience in providing deep tissue massage, treatment for spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions, pre and postnatal massage, sports massage, and full body maintenance.

With an emphasis on mind-body wellness and balance, she focuses on determining the causes of discomfort to best identify how to treat symptoms, including use of modalities such as Cupping and Graston Technique.

HBSc., CAT (C), FST, IT, FRC® Olivia Rodriguez, Certified Athletic Therapist Fascial Stretch & FRC® Mobility Specialist. As a Certified Athletic Therapist, Olivia specializes in the assessment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries. This involves treatment from anything such as acute ankle sprains to chronic low back pain. She strives to connect the manual therapy world more closely with the exercise rehab/strength & conditioning world to complete the continuum of rehab. Olivia has had a variety of experiences as Head Athletic Therapists for teams such as The Mississauga Blues Rugby Club, The Oakville Titan’s Lacrosse team, Varsity Men’s Volleyball, and the OVO Bounce Professional Basketball Tournament. She enjoys working with every population in the clinic; from the simply active individual looking to move pain-free, to the professional athlete striving to make it the big leagues. Outside of work, Olivia enjoys being an athlete herself. She’s a black belt in Chito-Ryu Karate, and an Alumni-Varsity Basketball player. Through a combination of science and natural medicine, Dr. Lauren helps patients with a variety of health concerns find safe, effective and individualized treatments. Some of Dr. Lauren’s special interests include women’s health, hormonal balancing, fertility and pre/postnatal care as well as working with athletes.

Dr. Lauren graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Kinesiology. After working for 2 years as a physiotherapist assistant, she decided to move on and to complete her Naturopathic Medicine Degree at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). After this 4-year program, she completed an intensive 2-year Clinical Residency. During her residency she had the opportunity to expand on her learning of the various naturopathic tools as well as gain experience in treating pediatrics, women’s health, fertility and mental health. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Bennett continues to enjoy teaching and mentoring students in naturopathic medicine as a part time faculty member at CCNM.

In her spare time, Dr. Bennett enjoys spending time at her family cottage, spending time with friends and family, cooking, and playing various sports especially soccer, flag football, and snowboarding.

Dr. Bennett is a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND) and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), and is licensed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO).
